Precision casting also called Lost wax casting or investment casting is a casting technique, in which an exact duplicate of the original wax sample is being created. This can be achieved by coating successive ceramic layers on the wax model until a strong shell envelops. After melting out the wax, molten metal will be poured into the ceramic mold, creating a perfect duplicate of the original wax pattern.
The benefits of lost wax casting are greater design flexibilities, close tolerances, complex details and a smooth surface finish. The process starts by making a pattern that has the same shape as the finished cast part. A sacrificial pattern is the name used for the pattern because you make the pattern from wax, and it will melt away in the process. Specifically, you make the pattern by injecting wax into a metal wax injection die. Then You dip the wax pattern covered with silica sand, repeating the process several times until you achieve the desired thickness. The thickness will depend on the specifications of the finished product and what raw materials you will use to make the final product.
