1、Selection of pouring position and parting surface
The pouring position refers to the spatial location of the wear-resistant castings when pouring. In process design, pouring position is usually considered first. After the pouring position is determined, the parting surface is determined. But in the process of determining the parting surface, the pouring position is often adjusted. In production, pouring position and parting surface are sometimes determined at the same time.
2、The mold parting surface refers to the contact surface between sand boxes
The selection of parting surface should simplify the process and save manpower and material resources on the premise of guaranteeing casting quality.
For wear-resistant castings (such as high manganese steel castings), the selection of casting position and parting surface is mainly considered according to production experience.
(1) For high manganese steel castings, the use surface and processing surface should be as far as possible in the lower casting mold or lower side elevation when pouring.
(2) All important parts of the casting must be in the same half mold.
The above principles sometimes contradict each other, so we must grasp the main contradictions and try to solve the minor contradictions by means of technological measures.
For example, for castings with high quality requirement, we should first satisfy the requirement of pouring position, and then consider the simplification of moulding process. For castings without special requirements, we should simplify the casting process and improve the economic efficiency as the main basis, without excessive consideration of the pouring position of castings.
