Sand casting remains the backbone of the global foundry industry, accounting for over 60% of total production due to its cost efficiency, versatility, and scalability. From automotive components to heavy industrial structures, its adaptability across sizes and materials sustains widespread use. However, limitations in precision, surface quality, and mechanical performance drive the adoption of advanced processes such as investment casting, die casting, and low-pressure casting when higher standards are required. This study examines how manufacturers strategically balance cost, performance, and production volume through process selection. The findings emphasize that optimal casting decisions align technical capabilities with economic and operational objectives.
